Questions
Questions, answered without the small print
What kinds of cases do you take?
Car dealer and auto loan fraud, debt-collection defense and claims against collectors, and credit report errors. I represent consumers only, never dealers, lenders, collectors or bureaus.
Do I need to have lost money to have a case?
Not always. Some consumer laws let a court grant damages when the law was broken, even before you can show a dollar lost.
What should I send you?
Every page you have: the contract, letters, texts, emails, your credit reports and any court papers. A photo from your phone is fine. Please don’t send bank or Social Security numbers through the form.
Can I afford a lawyer for this?
Often, yes. Several consumer laws make the company pay the fees of a consumer who wins. Your engagement letter says how I’m paid and which costs you could still owe.
I signed an arbitration clause. Is that the end of it?
No. Arbitration changes where a claim is heard, not whether you have one, and some clauses can’t be enforced. Send it to me with the contract.
Do you meet in person?
Yes, at the office on Locust Street downtown, or by phone or video if that’s easier. Parking is on the street and in the garages nearby.
How long does a case take?
Many end with a letter in a few weeks. A case that goes to court can take a year or more. I’ll give you an honest estimate once I know the facts.
Is what I tell you private?
What you tell me while asking for legal help is kept confidential. Just keep the first message short; we’ll go into the details once we speak.

A question the fine print didn’t answer?
Ask it, and send the paperwork with it. I answer every message myself.
